by Kimberly Knutson
Here I fall,
spilling ever downward
into an unseen void.
Should I open my eyes
through this descent,
the world scatters before me,
teasing my senses,
turning my stomach.
Upside down,
inside out,
through and around.
Laughing at my dizziness,
swallowing my fear,
I touch down.
Soft is the ground
at my feet,
warm,
like joyful tears.
A slice of heaven,
perhaps.
Safe. Peaceful. At ease.
In your arms,
I rest.
To your heart,
I listen.
The rhythem of life,
a beat to live for.
